Troy PollardWEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (3/5/19) — Troy Pollard of Sebree discovered last Thursday that he’s had a Powerball ticket worth $50,000 inside his truck since January, Kentucky Lottery officials reported.

“While driving his truck, he noticed the visor bouncing up and down,” Pollard told Lottery spokeswoman Jennifer Cunningham in Louisville. “It was when he pulled it down that he saw a Powerball ticket he’d bought for the Jan. 5, 2019 drawing.”

Cunningham said he decided next to stop off at a store to buy another ticket and check the one he’d just found. The clerk scanned it and told him it was for more than they could pay. That’s when another customer took the ticket to the self-ticket checker and it showed it was a $50,000 winner.

“This is unreal, I just couldn’t believe it,” Pollard said. “To think, this thing has been hanging on my visor since I bought it.”

Pollard is a regular customer at the EZ Service Center in Sebree, where he bought the winning ticket, lottery officials indicated. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The Webster County man said he and his wife are going to splurge a little bit, but they plan to invest most of the winnings.
