Deborah Courtney 1FORDSVILLE, Ky. — Deborah Lee “Debbie” Courtney, 62, of Fordsville, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Ind. She was born at Fort Campbell, Ky., on May 8, 1953, to the late SGT. Earnest L. and Doris Daniel Courtney.

She was a graduated from Cuba High School in Cuba, Ill. She began work at age 16 at Mary & Arts Restaurant. In 1981 and 1982 she went to Ohio County Business Vocational School. Later she went on to a career in Madisonville, Ky., and Evansville, Ind., at the U.S. Post Office as a mail clerk, and she was a member of Cuba United Methodist Church in Cuba, Ill. 

She loved her family and friends. She loved telling jokes, loved reading, swimming, and spending time with her great-nephews.

Deborah Courtney 2Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Albert L. Courtney.

Survivors include two sisters, Patricia A. Courtney, of Smiths Grove, Ky., and Elaine C. Blanton, of Madisonville, Ky.; one niece, Courtney Blanton, of Henderson, Ky., and one nephew, Bradley T. Blanton, of Madisonville.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 2, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home with burial in Axton Cemetery in Ohio County.
