Vehicle Pursuit 01 300HARTFORD, Ky. (2/25/16) -- An Ohio County couple has been arrested on multiple charges after attempting to run over and flee law enforcement.

According to a press release from the Ohio County Sheriff's Office, Monday, Feb. 22, while serving a warrant on David Vaught, 33, of McHenry, a vehicle Vaught was riding in attempted to run over two Kentucky State Troopers and one Ohio County Sheriff's Deputy.

On Tuesday, Feb. 23, after Deputy James Vincent received a tip, the OCSO and KSP searched for Vaught in the McHenry area. While searching several residences, deputies were told Vaught’s girlfriend, Kayla Philpot, was picking him up behind the McHenry store in a maroon Ford Probe. 

Sheriff Tracy Beatty spotted the car and followed it onto Kentucky 1245. Vaught jumped from the car and fled on foot down Happy Hollow Road. Major Allen Lacy gave chase on foot and apprehended Vaught as he tried to run to the Western Kentucky Parkway.

Philpot, Vaught’s girlfriend, jumped into the driver’s seat and fled the scene. She was found and arrested a short time later by Deputy Nick Eskridge.

Vaught was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center on first degree wanton endangerment on a police officer, fleeing and evading and several drug charges from his outstanding warrant. Philpot was lodge in the Ohio County Detention Center and charged with hindering prosecution.David Vaught.jpgKayla Philpot.jpg
