Police LightDRAKESBORO, Ky. (1/23/20) — Kentucky State Police Post 2 reports three individuals were arrested following a traffic stop in Drakesboro Thursday evening.

Trooper Justin Cornett reports he saw a 2008 Nissan Maxima fail to signal. The driver was identified as Ricky Lee Groves, 40 of Graham, along with passengers Carrie L. Groves, 47 of Owensboro and Jeremy Lee Gidcumb, 25 of Drakesboro.

Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Josh Beatty assisted KSP at the scene with his K-9 Officer that showed indicators that drugs were inside the car, KSP reported. After further investigation, Trooper Cornett and Beatty discovered 7 ounces of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine in the vehicle along with several pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Groves was arrested and charged with failure to use turn signal, no insurance, first-degree trafficking in meth-second or greater offense, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance-second or greater offense (less than 10 dosage units/opiates), third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (less than 20 dosage units/drug unspecified, first-degree promoting contraband, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Groves and Gidcumb also were charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in controlled substances and other drug-related charges.
