wky bot gardMCLEAN COUNTY, Ky. (5/30/19) — Representatives of the Western Kentucky Botanical Gardens in Owensboro talked about one of state’s best kept secrets during the May McLean County Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting last week.

WKBG hosts the nation’s largest exhibit of daylilly varieties in the nation.

Linda Bryant and Marsha Carpenter spoke to the membership in the Chamber Loft on Main Street Thursday, May 23.

“The daylillies will soon be at their peak,” said Carpenter, who is a member of WKBG’s executive committee.

She and Bryant also told the group about the garden’s koi pond, Japanese garden, rose garden and butterfly garden. The garden also features kids programs and encourages volunteers to help keep the garden at its best.

Also during the meeting, newly sworn-in McLean County Chamber President Amanda Dame gave the membership a treasury update, offered information along with Chamber Secretary Ginger Fields on the recent chamber awards banquet and updates on the Sept. 6 Chamber Golf Scramble.
