ArrestRedCentered 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (12/6//19) — A Madisonville father was charged with assaulting his son Wednesday night.

According to a Madisonville Police Department report, officers responded to a fight at a home off Park Avenue just before 9 p.m. Someone told police a juvenile and the single father, identified as James Thomas, were fighting.

MPD met with the father, who told police he instructed his son to be “home from church,” and when he got home after the set curfew, they had an argument, the report lists, Thomas said the youth “struck him first,” and then took the son to the floor and held him down. A witness indicated Thomas struck the victim first on the head with a closed fist before holding him down on the living room floor, and choked him.

Thomas, 31, was charged with fourth-degree assault-domestic violence. He was released from Hopkins County Jail Thursday on his own recognizance.


MPD also released the following reports Thursday:

Timothy D. Yates of Madisonville was charged Dec. 4 with public intoxication (excludes alcohol) and possession of synthetic drugs.

Tyrese Mosby of Madisonville was charged Dec. 5 with first-degree wanton endangerment.

Anthony M. Knight of Greenville was charged Dec. 4 with failure to pay court costs or fines.

Matthew D. Chaney of Madisonville was charged Dec. 4 with contempt of court.

Jason S. Lloyd of Madisonville was charged Dec. 4 with contempt of court.
