MADISONVILLE, Ky. (11/12/19) — The Madisonville Community College ‘Dress Up the Glema’ campaign is closer to it’s $500,000 goal to refurbish the Glema Mahr Center for the arts.

College president Dr. Cindy Kelley and education leaders received a $5,000 gift from Community Improvement Foundation president Tim Thomas Monday afternoon that will sponsor 20 new theater seats.

The campaign to renovate the Glema, including all new seating, paint, carpeting, sound system and orchestra pit renovations launched in January. A fundraising event held Friday night for the project has brought the campaign closer to reaching the goal, Kelley said.

The plan is to start renovating the Glema next year and have work completed in the spring.
“We are so excited for this gift and for the support of the Community Improvement Foundation,” Kelley stated. “The Foundation has a long history with the performing arts and the Glema Center. We are thrilled for their continued commitment to providing a legacy of arts in the community for years to come.” With the gift, the Foundation will sponsor 20 seats in the new auditorium.

Thomas said the CIF has donated more than $1 million to aid area community endeavors.
