UPDATE: MADISONVILLE, Ky. (10/16/19) — Two Evansville, Indiana men have been charged in connection to a report of shots fired 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in a Madisonville neighborhood.

City police believe the incident was isolated and not a random threat. No one was reported injured in that area, although several residents were out and about in the neighborhood, when the shots were allegedly fired.

It was reported that a suspect fired a gun at 54 S. Harrig St., which is an area that has previously been on law enforcement radar for criminal activity including reported shots fired.

Ahvier D. Lamb, 19, was driving a red Dodge Charger and Marquis J. McRae, 21, was listed as a passenger.

After the reported shots were fired, Madisonville Police Department officers, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Kentucky State Police troopers converged.

Officers attempted a traffic stop of the involved vehicle along East Center Street, but the driver kept going, eventually stopping along I-69, just past Madisonville Exit 114, MPD reported.

Police said they are still looking into why the men were in the Harrig Street area yesterday, which is off the beaten path of city travel.

A motive related to the alleged shots fired has not yet been established. Police said that nothing is off the table in relation to the charges, which could possibly become a federal case since it involved a firearm.

During the brief pursuit, McRae threw a firearm and ski mask out of the vehicle window, MPD reported.

Police were seen combing the area off the shoulder of I-69 following the traffic stop.

“A criminal history check revealed McRae has prior felony convictions, and Lamb has a pending case involving a firearm,” police wrote.

Lamb was charged with first-degree fleeing police, attempted first-degree assault and six counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

McRae was charged with tampering with physical evidence, convicted felon in possession of a handgun and possession of marijuana.

Lamb and McRae were each listed as inmates in Hopkins County Jail this morning. Bond has not yet been set.
