death investigationHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (10/9/19) — An investigation is underway related to the death of a 51-year-old Dawson Springs man found in Tradewater River.

Hopkins County Sheriff Matt Sanderson reported today that Marshall Neisz was in a four-door passenger car that was partially submerged in water off Olney and Neisz roads, just outside of Dawson Springs near the Hopkins-Caldwell County line at 8:45 p.m. Saturday.

Emergency crews responded to render aid to Neisz, who was removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital for treatment, according to the report.

“Neisz was later pronounced dead,” the sheriff wrote.

Anytime a person is found in the water, it is a bit abnormal, Sanderson said. The office is working to rule out any extenuating circumstances related to the death.

“We are waiting on a cause of death from the State Medical Examiner’s autopsy report,” the sheriff said, adding Neisz resided in that vicinity.

Dawson Springs Police and Fire departments, Medical Center Ambulance and Charleston Fire Department assisted at the scene.
