OWBOWENSBORO, Ky. (10/18/19) — Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport reported a full-scale exercise will be conducted 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday at the facility.

Numerous response vehicles and two helicopters will be responding to the mock exercise, airport officials said, and the public should not be be alarmed. The intersection to the airport will be blocked and secured during this time period as it would be during a real event. The exercise event is not open to the public. Media will be directed to a Joint Information Center and allowed to photograph and film the event.

The airport is required to test its emergency plan with a full-scale exercise every three years, airport director Rob Barnett stated. The capabilities being tested this year are on-scene security and protection, communications and medical triage following an aircraft crash.
