york arrestDAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (9/8/19) — Multiple police officers including a K-9 unit apprehended a man that allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint and stole his vehicle late yesterday afternoon in Owensboro.

Officers with Owensboro Police Department and FLEX unit responded at 6:21 p.m. Saturday to Wesleyan Park Plaza after a man reported another man approached him with a gun, took his wallet and then his vehicle. Shortly after 7 p.m., Daviess County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Curdsville-Deleware Road and Kentucky 1554 to a report of an abandoned vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle.

Kentucky State Police also responded to the area and along with DCSO and its K-9 unit locating the man alleged to have stolen then vehicle. A second man who allegedly got into the car at Wesleyan Park Plaza was also located and not charged in connection with the stolen vehicle.

OPD charged 40-year-old Daniel York of Owensboro with first-degree robbery, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence and second-degree fleeing or evading police.

OPD is continuing the investigation.
