Jaylen McEwen KWCINDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (10/21/19) — After a 2-1 weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover, Kentucky Wesleyan College senior Jaylen McEwen has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

McEwen ledt the Panthers to a pair of five-set wins on Friday against Northwood and Quincy before falling in another five-set nailbiter against Southern Indiana. In addition to G-MAC honors, McEwen was also named to the Midwest Region Crossover All-Tournament Team.

The Daviess County High School graduate was the top point scorer for Wesleyan while also averaging 2.47 digs per set and producing six blocks on the weekend. McEwen averaged 2.67 kills and also added three service aces while hitting .275.

McEwen tallied nine kills and eight digs in the Crossover opener against Northwood. The senior had a strong double-double against Quincy with 18 digs and 14 kills. She was one of three Panthers to have 14 kills that match. McEwen closed the weekend with another double-double against Quincy, recording 17 kills and 11 digs.
