Hopkinsville Public LibraryHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (1/21/20) — Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library have teamed up with Oak Grove Community Center to host a free, life-size game night 5 p.m. Friday, librarians announced.

DeeAnna Sova, HCCPL Executive Director, stated, “HCCPL has been working with Melissa Lynch, Director of the Community Center, to create programs that the library can bring to the citizens of Oak Grove. Oak Grove consists of 1200 library card holders and they account for approximately 220 of the 12,000 items circulated each month at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library.”

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Imagination Library currently serves 70 percent of eligible children in the Oak Grove area, librarians said. Sarah Hardison, Imagination Library Coordinator, stated, “The Oak Grove community is unique in the sense that it is ever changing. There are children moving in and out of the area on a constant basis. The Imagination Library and the Oak Grove Community Center share a common goal to make these families feel welcome and equipped with local resources. We’re excited to host a life-size game night and to get free books in the hands of more and more children.”

“The City of Oak Grove recently made a commitment for a financial investment to support the HCCPL Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program. In turn HCCPL and Imagination Library are committed to provide not only books, but programs that will engage and prepare the youth of the community in the reading readiness initiative that is so important to the future education and workforce of Christian County,” Sova said.
