hop police dept2 300HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (11/19/19) — Hopkinsville Police Department reports officers are “cracking down” on distracted drivers through the holidays.

Public Information Officer Mike Atkins said as traffic increases significantly, he reminds drivers to keep their eyes on the road, which should be a No. 1 priority for safety’s sake.

Officers also will have their eyes on distracted drivers, Atkins reported. Extra patrol officers will be on the streets during peak travel hours to make traffic stops if necessary.

Drivers can expect saturation patrols and see officers present during nighttime events. Adkins explained HPD’s goal is to educate the public on the dangers of distracted driving in an effort to reduce collisions.
