OwensCHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (9/19/19) — A traffic stop at the intersection of Walnut Street and Jessie Avenue led to charges for a passenger this week.

A Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrest report lists the driver was cited and released during the 7:29 p.m. Monday traffic stop. The driver in addition to the passenger, identified as Jennifer M. Owens, 34 of Auburn, consented to a search.

CCSO reported finding a crystal, white substance in a plastic zip bag inside a black purse, claimed to be owned by Owens, who told deputies the substance was “meth” and stated no other items were being concealed.

During her ride to Christian County Jail, Owens admitted to concealing marijuana in her pants, according to the arrest report, and was instructed to leave it in place. Sometime during the transport, Owens “tried to dump and stuff marijuana in between the transport seats,” placing a deputy in “substantial danger of serious physical injury by possible exposure to a hypodermic needle.”

While the deputy collected the evidence, CCSO revealed part of a syringe push pin top was found without the syringe body. A female jailer found the remainder of the needle, a large fist-sized bag of marijuana and possible crystal meth the size of a silver dollar contained in a baggie during an additional search of Owens in a private holding area.

Owens was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (meth-greater or equal to 2 grams), possession of marijuana, tampering with physical evidence and second-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer. She was listed as being held in Christian County Jail this morning on $5,000 cash bond.
