busCHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (9/19/19) — Christian County Sherif’s Office responded to a school bus crash off Cansler Subdivision Road near Hopkinsville that occurred 6:03 a.m. Wednesday.

The Christian County Schools bus driver, identified as Nikki D. Killebrew, 46 of Hopkinsville, was treated at the scene for injuries and taken via ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, CCSO reported. Two passengers that were aboard the school bus also were treated at the scene and taken to the hospital via private vehicle.

Three males and four females were listed as passengers.

According to reports, “inattention” was the cause of the crash. Killebrew was driving north on Cansler Subdivision Road, stating “it was dark and she did not see the curve.” The bus went off the left side of the road as it entered the curve, then traveled down a hill through a yard, striking a pine tree on the left side.

The bus continued into a gravel driveway and ran over a concrete slab, coming to rest against a metal building, according to the report. Part of the roof off the building was on top of the bus. Deputy Mark Nichols investigated.
