WC logoMORGANFIELD, Ky. (10/8/19) — Webster County dominated in the opening round of the postseason, blanking Union County 9-0 in the 6th District Girls' Soccer Tournament on Monday.

With the win, Webster County improved to 10-6 and advances to the 6th District Girls' Soccer Tournament title match.

Tournament host Union County ended its season 4-11 with the loss.

Marissa Austin scored five goals and dished out one assist to lead Webster County to the win. During the victory, Austin became the Lady Trojans' all-time leading scorer.

Brooke Shepherd and Mariah Austin added two goals apiece for Webster County in the shutout win.

Helping to pace Webster County offensively, Abbie Michalek dealt out four assists. Shepherd posted two assists while Mariah Austin added one assist in the Lady Trojans' triumph.

Defensively for Webster County, goalkeepers Kiara Cavanaugh and Jaden Roberts combined to record a shutout. Cavanaugh registered 16 saves for the Lady Trojans.

Webster County is set to face Henderson County in the 6th District girls' soccer title match at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
