Thelma Dossett Massie

HOPKINSVILLE, KY., — Thelma Dossett Massie, 89, of Hopkinsville passed away at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday, January 8 at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. A native of Christian County, KY she was born February 10, 1930 the daughter of the late Finis Clark Dossett and Ollie Ann Thaxton Dossett. She worked at Pennyrile Rural Electric and went on to work at the Hopkinsville Community College Bookstore. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Pembroke Christian Church.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 13 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with the Rev. Rachel Ganther officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.

Visitation will be Monday, January 13 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene ‘Gene’ Davis Massie, Sr., her son Eugene ‘Gene’ Davis Massie, Jr., her brother Buford ‘Bub’ Clark Dossett, her sisters Annie Sholar, Gladys Cathey and Bunice Davenport.

Survivors includer her daughter Jeri Lynn Massie Spurr of Hopkinsville, 4 grandsons Christopher (Melissa) Davis Spurr, Kyle Spurr, Wesley Massie, and Robert (Mallory) Massie, her great grandchildren Mia Lane Spurr, AvaLynn Spurr, Dean Davis Spurr, Ashton Davis Spurr, Isabella Spurr, Lily Spurr, and Eleanor Spurr.
