KCTCSVERSAILLES, Ky. (1/21/20)  – Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents Chair Gail Henson, Ph.D, today announced members of a search committee, which will be tasked with leading a national search and choosing finalists for the next KCTCS president. Finalists will be presented to the full Board of Regents, which will make final selection and appointment. Current president Jay K. Box announced in December he will retire July 1, 2020.

The search committee, which Henson will chair, is made up of internal and external representatives:

Dr. Gail Henson, Committee Chair and KCTCS Board Chair

Dr. Vic Adams, Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College President

Damon Allen, KCTCS Regent

Jacqueline Coleman, Lieutenant Governor and Education and Workforce Development Cabinet Secretary

Dr. Paul Czarapata, KCTCS Vice President of Technology Solutions

Lisa Desmarais, KCTCS Regent

Elizabeth Garduno, Jefferson Community and Technical College Student Affairs Staff

Amy Jackson, Community partner and President of German American Bank

Keith Hamilton, Community partner and CEO of LB Manufacturing, LLC

Lee Lingo, Community partner, KCTCS Foundation Board member, and President of Kentucky Association of Manufacturers

Barry Martin, Community partner, former KCTCS Regent, and CEO of Primary Care Centers of Eastern Kentucky

P.G. Peeples, Sr., Community partner, former KCTCS Board of Regents Chair, and President/CEO of Lexington-Fayette County Urban League

Jacqi Teehan, KCTCS Student Regent

Dr. Aaron Thompson, President of Council on Postsecondary Education

Ashli Watts, Community partner and President of Kentucky Chamber of Commerce

Mark Wells, KCTCS Faculty Regent

“Members of the search committee represent all areas of our state, and they are people who care not only about KCTCS, but also about the direction of higher education in Kentucky,” Henson said. “This is a strong committee that will be faced with tough choices, but I believe these are the right people for the job.”

An RFP has been issued for the selection of a national search firm to assist the committee in this process; the firm will be chosen in February. The process to fill the position will take several months, and Box’s successor is likely to be named in fall of 2020.
