Owensboro Catholic logo 325CALHOUN, Ky. (10/5/19) — Owensboro Catholic notched a win on the road on Friday, defeating host McLean County 55-21 in a Class 2A, District 2 football game.

With the win, Owensboro Catholic improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Class 2A, District 8.

McLean County dropped to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the district with the loss.

Quarterback Drew Hartz turned in another stellar performance for Owensboro Catholic, completing 22 of 32 passes for 468 yards and seven touchdowns. Hartz completed at least one pass to six different receivers.

Braden Mundy and Hagan Edge combined to lead Owensboro Catholic in receiving. Mundy hauled in six receptions for 169 yards and two touchdowns. Edge, another reliable receiver, reeled in seven receptions for 152 yards and three touchdowns.

Following Mundy and Edge, Dre Thruston and Jackson Staples reeled in one touchdown pass reception apiece for the Aces.

Thruston led Owensboro Catholic on the ground, rushing five times for 115 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively for the Aces, Christopher Boarman recorded 19 tackles, Jack Hamilton 17 tackles and Aaron Buckman 14 tackles.

McLean County finished with 418 rushing yards. Landen Capps paced the Cougars on the ground, rushing for 215 yards and two touchdowns.
