Bombers logoLOUISVILLE, Ky. (8/9/19) — The Dubois County Bombers pulled away to beat the Owensboro RiverDawgs 9-6 on the opening day of the Bluegrass World Series at Louisville Slugger Field on Wednesday.

Chase Rudy earned the pitching win for the Bombers. Rudy surrendered one run on two hits over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Samuel Steimel, Brennan LaBarbera and Thomas King each put in work in relief out of the bullpen for the Bombers. King recorded the last three outs to post the save.

Craig Nixon suffered the pitching loss for the RiverDawgs. Nixon lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two.

Schank and Chase Hug led Dubois County with two hits apiece.

Owensboro lost despite outhitting Dubois County 13-9. Michael Wymann, Josh Bennett and Tanner Singleton each collected multiple hits for the RiverDawgs. Wymann went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Owensboro in the hits column.
